Social Proof & Reviews Policy

Approved reviewGDPR / EU DSA / UCPD aligned

In one sentence: every review shown on Soleil is written by a real, signed-in member who has given explicit consent. We do not generate, ghost-write, edit, or buy reviews — ever.

1. Who can leave a review

  • Only signed-in Soleil members with an active account.
  • One active review per member. Submitting a new one requires withdrawing the previous one first.
  • The Soleil team, contractors, and their immediate family are not permitted to leave member reviews.

2. How consent is captured

When you submit a review, you must tick a clearly-worded consent statement covering:

  • Publication of your rating, written body, and display name.
  • The legal basis for processing (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) — consent — and Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest in trustworthy marketing).
  • Your right to withdraw the review at any time, which removes it from public display immediately.

The consent version, exact timestamp, and your account ID are stored alongside the review. We can produce this proof on request.

3. How reviews are approved

  1. Submission enters the queue as pending — never displayed publicly.
  2. A member of the Soleil team manually checks that the account is genuine (real signups, active usage, not a duplicate), the content was written by a human, and that it does not violate our content rules (no PII about third parties, no hate speech, no defamation).
  3. Only after this check is the review marked approved and published.
  4. We do not edit content. If a review cannot be published as written, we contact you or reject it with a documented reason — we never silently rewrite your words.

4. Audit trail

Every state change — submitted, approved, rejected, withdrawn — is written to an immutable internal audit log with the actor, the timestamp, the previous status, the new status, and any notes. You can request a copy of the audit trail for your own review at any time (privacy@soleil.app).

This satisfies the GDPR accountability principle (Art. 5(2)) and the EU Digital Services Act provisions on misleading commercial practices.

5. What we will never do

  • Generate reviews with AI or paste-in marketing copy.
  • Pay, gift, or trade for positive reviews.
  • Filter out negative reviews. We may reject reviews that violate content rules, but we do not hide critical-but-fair feedback.
  • Edit the text of a member's review without explicit consent.
  • Sell, rent, or share review data with third parties.

6. Withdrawing, editing, deleting

  • You can withdraw your review from inside the app at any time — it is removed from public display immediately.
  • To request full erasure (Art. 17) including the underlying record and audit metadata, email privacy@soleil.app. We respond within 30 days.
  • We retain a minimal hashed record of withdrawn reviews for 24 months so we can demonstrate the audit trail integrity to regulators.

7. Reporting a suspicious review

If you believe a review on Soleil is fake, defamatory, or violates our content rules, email trust@soleil.app. We investigate every report and update the audit log with the outcome.
